I have been running marathons since 1997 and using training programs
from great sources like Hal Higdon. I decided to try to qualify for
Boston, trained even HARDER, or so I thought, and did not see a change
in my finish times or overall performance level. I hired Andy last
summer to get me ready for a fall marathon. My race results went from
"ok" to fantastic. With workouts tailored to me that were based on my
daily data (sent to him from my Garmin 405 Forerunner), my times
dramatically improved. This was surprising, as he had me running less
miles per week than all of my previous marathon training programs. Was
Andy's program more efficient? …YES!!!! I know his workouts were much
more "quality" based, than in the past when quantity was my main
focus. I had a great marathon experience, and even turned in my
fastest half marathon ever. Unfortunately, I had injured my knee in an
earlier house cleaning debacle (and regretfully did not tell Andy
about), which came to haunt me at mile 21. Hoping for a BQ with Andy’s
help this spring! - Elaine: Age 50, Illinois
Heather Sweet is an awesome coach. I know because she took me from
barely being able to run 13 seconds to running 13 miles in just a few
months. Being slightly ambitious, I had the stellar idea to try to run
a half marathon before even trying a 5k. Oh, I knew not a thing of
running other than it made me tired. I called up Heather for help.
HELP ME!!!! Well, barely a week a later she was at my house with a
completely typed up gradual training plan. She even planned a shoe
shopping field trip. Ladies, can you ever get enough shoe shopping?
Whenever I felt like I had hit a roadblock (like every other day for
me), I gave her a call. She was so supportive and listened to me whine
and cry, and always helped motivate me to reach my end goal. And to
top it all off, she even ran the darn race with me! I cannot say
enough about how helpful it was to have her support me. I run 10 miles
just for fun now. :) - Candace: Age 34, Illinois
I hired Andy as a coach for my first half-Ironman. I was very nervous
because I thought I was going to have to train for all three
disciplines as if I was racing each individually. That seemed
overwhelming with a job and a family life. Come to find out, if I
would have done that, I probably would have ended up injured, burnt
out, and single. But, under Andy’s guidance, I trained effectively and
did great at my race and achieved my goal… injury free! To be honest,
at first I had my doubts, but when race day came I ate my words
happily. I even beat all of my training partners that usually beat me.
Andy and Heather are awesome coaches. Very informative and supportive.
A+ in my book. - Kevin: Age 28, Kentucky
Andy coached me for the Hawaiian Ironman. He is a spectacular coach.
He is hands-on, incredibly knowledgeable, and patient. It is so
refreshing to find a coach who really cares about his athletes and
spends time with them. He came to the pool with me to work on my
stroke, rode with me numerous times after providing me an incredible
bike fit, and ran with me as well. He helped me handle a serious
injury on my way to Kona, and he puts innovation into his coaching.
For instance, he included yoga in my program--I loved it. He has both
the technical expertise and the personal touch to make him perhaps one
of the best coaches one can find anywhere. Any athlete is lucky to
have any Andy as a coach, and I give him the highest recommendation.
